Judd’s Garage is a petrol filling station with small shop, and has also previously been home to a vehicle garage and car sales business.

The site freehold has been sold by former owner Philip Ponting, in order to step back and focus on other interests. Prior to Philip’s ownership, Judd’s Garage was owned by the Judd family for around 50 years, meaning this sale marks just the second time the site has changed hands in approximately 70 years.

Philip commented, “After deciding to sell the freehold of Judd’s Garage, I contacted Christie & Co. The transaction was complicated, but with their help and professionalism, the sale has now concluded.

“I owned Judd’s for 21 years, having purchased it from the Judd family who previously owned it for around 50 years. Throughout most of my ownership, the garage was rented, with Kerry Judd running the workshop like his father did for many years before. The car sales business has also had several tenants, one of which has since relocated close to Witney selling prestigious cars, very successfully, as Woodstock Cars.

“Judd’s is very well-known locally, and it will soon have a new image and offer further facilities to the local community. I wish the new owners well in their new venture.”

The site has been sold to Mohan Kandiah, an experienced operator who owns several other forecourt sites across the UK and plans to continue expanding their business. Mohan will operate the forecourt and shop and has leased out the garage and service centre areas of the site to a new operator who plans to reopen them.

Mohan commented, “I am delighted to have completed the purchase of Judd’s Garage. It is a strong site on a busy A-road with a long-established history, having been trading for many decades. I would like to thank Oliver Guppy and Mark Kaluza from Christie & Co for helping me with the purchase and assisting with finding solutions to some of the complex matters that arose. We have plans to reestablish the service and MOT centre, as well as enhance the site as time goes on.”

Oliver Guppy, Business Agent at Christie & Co who managed the sale, added, “We are delighted to have helped Philip with the sale of Judd’s Garage. Philip felt that now was the right time to sell and asked us to help him find a buyer confidentially. It was great to work with Philip to assist in the sale, and with Mohan, who has purchased the site, to overcome some complications to get to completion. I would like to wish Philip all the best with his future plans, and I am sure that the site will continue to flourish under Mohan’s ownership.

“There has been a 150% increase in the number of petrol stations we have sold this year, compared to the same period last year, with a combined value of over £35 million. With demand for sites far outweighing supply, if you are interested in exploring a potential sale or lease of your petrol station, we’d encourage you to get in touch for a free, confidential conversation.”

The site was sold at an undisclosed price.
