Kirkgate Pharmacy is a standard-hours community pharmacy, which dispenses approximately 7,250 items per month and provides extended pharmacy services including a travel clinic, flu vaccinations, and prescription deliveries.

The pharmacy is located on Darley Street in central Bradford, benefiting from strong footfall along this busy thoroughfare. It relocated to its current premises approximately 12 months ago and is situated within a part of the commercial district that is undergoing substantial investment and regeneration.

The business was brought to market by former owner Ibrar Khan, who had owned the pharmacy since 2020 and is now focusing on his other pharmacy businesses in Leeds and Wakefield.

Following a confidential sales process with Jon Booth at Christie & Co, Kirkgate Pharmacy has been purchased by new entrant, Kirkgate Pharma Ltd.

A spokesperson for Kirkgate Pharma Ltd, comments, “I am delighted to have acquired Kirkgate Pharmacy in the heart of Bradford, the city where I was born, grew up and am proud to call home. With the city centre undergoing significant regeneration, including the City Village development, I believe this is an exciting time to invest in Bradford and build on the pharmacy's strong foundations.

“The pharmacy has benefited from a brand-new fit-out, with a spacious layout and two consultation rooms, providing excellent opportunities to expand both NHS and private clinical services. I look forward to creating a trusted healthcare destination and bringing new and innovative healthcare services to the people of Bradford.”

Ibrar Khan, the former owner of Kirkgate Pharmacy, comments, “Having started Kirkgate Pharmacy in 2020 when Christie & Co helped me acquire the nearby Superdrug contract, I contacted them when the time was right to sell so I could focus on my other ventures in Leeds and Wakefield. It was a difficult decision as the Kirkgate contract is where it all began for me in my hometown of Bradford. It’s great that the business has passed down to a young, Bradfordian pharmacist who knows the town and its people. I wish him all the best of success.”

Jon Booth, Director – Pharmacy at Christie & Co, comments, “The new owner is a forward-thinking Pharmacist who knows this area well having grown up here. I am certain they will take the strong base that has been inherited and move it forward to the benefit of the existing and future patients. We wish all parties the very best.”

Kirkgate Pharmacy was sold for an undisclosed price.
