Leiston Pharmacy is a busy community pharmacy that dispenses an average of 11,500 items a month. It is ideally located on the main high street in Leiston.
The pharmacy has been owned by Ben Ampomah for 25 years and was brought to market to begin his road to retirement.
Following a confidential sales process with Mark Page at Christie & Co, it has been sold to Ashok Sanka, who owns Green Cross Pharmacy in Bramford, just outside Ipswich in Suffolk. To elevate the business, Ashok hopes to build relationships with the local GP surgery and take advantage of the local population growth following the development of Sizewell C Power Station, which is a few miles away.
Ben Ampomah, the former owner of Leiston Pharmacy, comments, ”This has been a great pharmacy and we were sorry to have let it go, but we’re delighted with the enthusiasm of the buyer and feel he will do very well in the town.”
Ashok Sanka, the new owner of Leiston Pharmacy, comments: “We were really drawn to Leiston Pharmacy because it’s such an important part of the local community. It already has a great reputation, and we could see that, with some investment and a focus on patient care, it has a lot of potential to grow and offer even more services that people really need."
"The main goal is to build on the great work that’s already been done. We want to expand services like vaccinations, NHS services, and patient support, while also making things more digitally convenient for patients. We’re also looking at ways we can collaborate with local healthcare providers so that Leiston Pharmacy continues to be a central part of the community’s healthcare."
Mark Page, Director – Pharmacy at Christie & Co, comments, “The expansion of the local power plant has given the area a real boost, with Leiston being the closest town. I wish Ashok all the very best with this excellent pharmacy.”
Leiston Pharmacy was sold for an undisclosed price.
