Montessori nursery in Enfield sold for the first time to Busy Bees

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the sale of Goldstar Montessori Day Nursery in Enfield, north London.

Goldstar Day Nursery in Enfield, north London

Founded 27 years ago, Goldstar Montessori Day Nursery is a well-established, 68-place day nursery with a brilliant local reputation and a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating. The setting enjoys a consistently high level of occupancy, with parents eager to secure a place, and utilises a child-led curriculum based on the Montessori method and EYFS. It operates from two semi-detached converted residential properties in the busy and sought-after north London borough of Enfield.

The setting was founded by Ms Danielle Somers who recently decided to sell to spend more time with family. Following a confidential sales process, it has been sold to the UK’s largest nursery group, Busy Bees.

Ms Danielle Somers comments, “I’ve had the business for 27 years. It started in one room and, over the years, has grown to take over the whole building. It’s been a long journey with a lifetime of memories and so deciding to sell was a huge decision and primarily made to spend time with my family. The new owners, Busy Bees, have a forward vision which will make the nursery grow from strength to strength.”

Nitin Jain, Managing Director of Montessori by Busy Bees, comments, “We are delighted to welcome Goldstar Montessori Day Nursery to the Busy Bees family. The team has done a wonderful job of growing the nursery over the past 26 years, and we are committed to preserving their vision and values going forward. Their child-initiated approach perfectly aligns with our mission at Busy Bees, and we are looking forward to working with the team to ensure children continue receiving the best possible start in life.”

David Eaves, Director – Childcare & Education at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, comments, “We were delighted to support Danielle in the sale of her fantastic nursery. This setting is a prime example of what can be achieved by an owner who nurtures their business over time, has a vision for how the nursery can grow and seizes opportunities when they appear, as Danielle did in acquiring the adjoining property in 2009 to expand the capacity. Given the excellent location and prominent kerb side appeal we were immediately inundated with interest in bringing the setting to market, receiving multiple offers in a short space of time and worked closely with all parties to bring the deal to a close.

“Settings in affluent London and South East locations are always in high demand, with the appetite particularly strong at present due to the prevalence of well-funded, and experienced operators eager to add more high-quality settings to their portfolios.”

Goldstar was sold for an undisclosed price
