Successful newsagents in Pitlochry comes to market

Specialist business property advisor, Christie & Co has brought to the market The Paper Shop, a long-standing newsagents situated in Scotland’s premier tourist destination of Pitlochry, 27 miles north of Perth, and just over an hour’s drive to Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The Papershop, Pitlochry

The Paper Shop is set on the main commercial thoroughfare in Pitlochry, close to the central car and coach parking, and the nearby train station, which allows it to be one of the first stops for tourists and visitors to the town.

The open-plan business enjoys steady trade as the sole newsagents in the town, however it has moved beyond the typical “newsagents”, selling a variety of gifting confectionery, soft toys, books, Scottish confectionery, and coffee. The store also offers one small paper round, with the hospital and hotels placing their orders daily, generating a good income.

The business also benefits from an attic, which is currently used for extra storage, but could potentially be converted to a one bed flat.

Liam Bain, Business Agent, at Christie & Co, who is handling the sale comments, “In the eight years our clients have been running the store, they have generated excellent profit margins for the business. With such a popular trading location in Pitlochry and an overall sales mix currently generating a healthy gross profit in excess of 31%, there is a good foundation to work from. This is an outstanding opportunity to acquire a freehold business in a thriving community.”
