Dating back almost 700 years, the traditional country pub sits in the heart of the historic village of Etal, which is considered one of rural Northumberland’s best kept secrets. Close to Etal Castle, an important site in North Northumberland’s history, the venue is a popular destination for locals and tourists, with the town welcoming over 30,000 visitors each year. The property has been very well maintained and retains lots of features in-keeping with the age of the property.

Etal is approximately 10 miles south west of Berwick-upon-Tweed and a few miles inland from Holy Island and Bamburgh. The village is centred on a now ruined castle, which has seen much conflict between England and Scotland over the years, and offers fascinating heritage attractions, beautiful countryside to explore, and tempting places to eat, drink and shop.

With a strong customer following and high rankings on numerous travel and booking websites, the Black Bull Inn provides an excellent opportunity for an owner operator to take on a business which benefits from security of income via food and beverage.

Marslie McGregor, Business Agent – Pubs & Restaurants at Christie & Co is handling the sale and comments, “The Black Bull in Etal is an extremely popular and well-known venue serving quality, locally sourced food and drink.  It is a superb example of a traditional, centuries old country inn, which has maintained its heritage whilst offering a 21st century drinking and dining experience. We expect much interest in this desirable property and look forward to finding a new tenant for this historic and beautiful inn.”
