Castle Stores

Centrally located on Mainstreet in the historic castle town of Pembroke, the Londis-branded store benefits from excellent levels of passing trade, with a number of other businesses such as hotels, pubs and takeaways nearby. The town’s main train station is situated only 0.5 miles from the store, making it a convenient pit-stop for those travelling through Pembroke. The store is also within close proximity to Pembroke Castle, meaning it captures the year-round tourists visiting the historic town.

The store itself is well established and offers a wide range of products, including a Nescafe & Go machine, and National Lottery terminal. Located above the store is the owners accommodation which comprises of a kitchen, living room, three double bedrooms and bathroom.

Joe Brayne, Business Agent – Retail at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, comments, “Londis Castle Stores has been run successfully by Peter Robinson, Robinson through his company Robinson Retail Limited since 2014 and as such led to eight bids before an offer was accepted. We are pleased to have helped Peter dispose of one of his stores and wish Nirosh all the best with the business.”

The new owner, Nirosh Atchuthampillai comments, “I’m looking forward to developing the business as much as possible by introducing new product lines to serve the local community and potentially refurbishing the shop at the start of next year if all goes well. The Pembroke community have already been extremely welcoming so I’m sure I will receive the same support as they gave to Robinson Retail. I sincerely wish Peter Robinson all the best as well.”

Previous owner, Peter Robinson adds, “I would like to thank all the staff and customers who have just been a joy to work with and serve at Castle Stores, we have hugely enjoyed our time running the store. The business has gone from strength to strength and we wish the new owner, Nirosh and the staff all the best with taking it forward. We couldn’t have sold our business without the help and support of Christie & Co and I am also as grateful as ever to Dan Lewis at Hains & Lewis for handling the legal process so efficiently for us.”
