Popular pub in Ham Hill taken on by local group of friends
Specialist business property adviser Christie & Co has announced the leasehold sale of The Prince of Wales, in the Ham Hill Country Park in Somerset.
Business. Built around You.

A popular meeting spot for walkers taking in the stunning views of Ham Hill, The Prince of Wales offers exceptional food, a wide range of drinks, and hosts regular events. The pub featured in the television programme Perfect Pub Walks with Bill Bailey in 2024 and has a strong reputation in the local area.
The previous owners, Mike and Nikki Holroyd, had been custodians of The Prince of Wales for almost 20 years and built a thriving business.
The pub has been acquired by a group of friends from the local community: Lisa, Mark, Leanne and Rob Parsons, and Andrew and Sophie Holm. Lisa and Mark are local farmers, and Andrew and Sophie run a heating and plumbing business.
Lisa Parsons commented on behalf of the group, “We've known the previous owners for many years, and they often come down to our farm and have always wanted to drive a tractor, so it seems we've had a role reversal!
“Mark’s brother Rob, and his wife Leanne, were looking for a challenge, and a new role for Rob when he retires from military service.
“Andy and Sophie are our good friends, and we all work together well. Basically, we’re all as crazy as each other and love a challenge!”
Ryan Bassett, Business Agent – Pubs & Restaurants at Christie & Co, managed the sale process and added, “We’re delighted to have completed the sale of The Prince of Wales. This is a brilliant story, as local farmers and friends have bought the pub. Nikki and Mike have been excellent custodians over the last 19 years, and I can’t wait to see where the new group of owners take it. I’ll certainly be visiting as a customer soon.”
The pub leasehold was sold at an undisclosed price.
