The family-run Priority Care Group was established in 1987 by business partners, Andy Prior and Benny Reilly, to provide ‘home from home’ support to their clients. The group now comprises six care homes and a head office; Harestane Care Home, St Columba’s Care Home and Magdalen House Care Home in Dundee, Meigle Country House Care Home in Perthshire, Drumdarroch Care Home in Aberdeenshire, and St Vigeans Care Home in Arbroath. Together, they provide 233 beds, of which 227 have en suite facilities.
Over the past 35 years, the group has built a reputation for providing high-quality elderly and specialist care for clients with learning disabilities. The quality of care offered is reflected in the longstanding history of high grading outcomes from the Care Inspectorate across the portfolio.
The group is now run by two of Andy’s children, Andy and Veronica, along with their dedicated support team of almost 300, caring for over 200 clients across the homes.
The business was brought to market as the Directors wanted to focus on family and other business interests.
Following a confidential sales process with Martin Daw at Christie & Co, Priority Care Group has been purchased by Keane Premier Healthcare, which is fronted by brothers, Ross and Ryan Smith, for their dad, Jim.
Andy Prior, Director at Priority Care Group, comments, “Joining forces with Keane marks an important new chapter for Priority Care Group. As a family-run business, it was essential for us to find a partner that shares our values and long-standing commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.”
Ryan Smith, Joint Managing Director at Keane Premier Group, comments, “This is a game-changing acquisition for Keane that will double the size of our business, increase our footprint into new regions across Scotland, and importantly bring together two strongly aligned care providers.
“Our commitment to family values and delivering exceptional care creates a natural and powerful partnership with the Priority team, while offering us the scale to invest in homes and staff working in the sector. We look forward to working as one team to maintain outstanding care for our residents and to drive the next phase of growth for the business.”
Martin Daw, Regional Director - Care at Christie & Co, comments, “Both our vendors and purchasers were second-generation operators, and the synergies in how they operate their groups were clear to see. It will be exciting to see the integration of Priority into Keane Premier Group over the coming months.
“We are still seeing strong levels of activity across the country with an expanding roster of buyers recognising the Scottish care sector as an attractive market for growth. We expect to see this continue for the foreseeable.”
Priority Care Group was sold for an undisclosed price.
