Established Smarty Pants Day Nursery in Dudley changes hands to first-time buyer

Established in 2007, the ‘Good’ Ofsted-rated day nursery has an effective operating capacity for 32 toddler and pre-school-aged children. It occupies a mixed use council building part of which comprises an open-plan toddler and pre-school area, a kitchen, and an outdoor space.
Positioned within the Dudley Family Hub Network, the nursery is at the heart of its community. Sitting on the corner of Vicarage Road and Lye Bypass, there is easy access to Stourbridge town centre, and it sits just 10 miles from Birmingham.
The setting has been owned by Paul and Lydia Browning since 2017, who also own four other settings as part of the Smarty Pants Day Nurseries group. They recently decided to sell their Stourbridge setting to focus on their newest setting which is close to their family home.
Following a confidential sales process with Jassi Sunner at Christie & Co, and with funding part-sourced through Christie Finance, the business has been purchased by Lauren Crandon, a first-time buyer with a background in children’s education, alongside her husband, Luke.
Paul and Lydia Browning, the former owners of Smarty Pants @ Lye, comment, “We are really pleased for Lauren and wish her and Luke all the best with continuing the success at Smarty Pants @ Lye. This now allows us to spend more time at our other settings. We will miss the staff but wish everyone all the best.”

As a qualified primary school teacher, I am passionate about providing high-quality early years experiences and building strong relationships with children, families and the local community. I look forward to building on the nursery’s strong foundations and supporting the children to learn, develop and thrive.”

Smarty Pants @ Lye was sold for an undisclosed price.
