High-dispensing pharmacy in Cowbridge sold after 50-year ownership

Sylvia Williams Chemist is an established community pharmacy that dispenses an average of 12,500 items per month. The business is very well-located on the main high street of the highly desirable Vale of Glamorgan market town of Cowbridge.
The business has been owned by Kate Thomas and her family for nearly 50 years and was brought to market to allow her to retire from the business and concentrate on other interests.
Following a confidential sales process with Jonathan Board at Christie & Co, and with funding sourced through Gary Boyce at Christie Finance, the pharmacy has been purchased by Zaid Salih.

“Despite ongoing operational challenges in the marketplace, it is showing remarkable resilience and there remains significant demand for well-established and well-located pharmacies such as this one.”
Gary Boyce, Director at Christie Finance who arranged the funding comments, “It was the second pharmacy acquisition for the purchasers and their existing bank had limited appetite towards assisting in this instance. This was despite Sylvia Williams Chemist being a well-performing pharmacy with significant upside to the new incoming owners. Through established relationships, we were able to present a viable lending case to alternative banks and successfully secure the necessary funding. Exciting plans are afoot for the pharmacy to ensure it continues servicing the local community needs and we look forward to seeing these come to fruition.”
Sylvia Williams Chemist was sold for an undisclosed amount.
