The Birch is a characterful pub which has been successfully trading since the mid-19th century and is known for its welcoming atmosphere, high-quality food, and friendly service.

The pub has been sold by family-run local pub company Country Taverns, who also run The Black Horse in Ireland, Bedfordshire.

They commented, “We are sad to see The Birch leave our portfolio but delighted it’s going to such an experienced operator with strong local ties. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved here and confident the pub will continue to thrive under new ownership.”

The pub has been sold to Elzan Seraj, who owns and operates The Dolphin in Stoke Hammond.

Elzan commented, “I am thrilled to take on The Birch and continue the fantastic work of the Campbell family. This is a wonderful pub with a great reputation, and I’m excited to build on that and make it even more of a destination for the local community.”

Tim Widdows, Associate Director at Christie & Co, managed the sale process and added:
“We’re delighted to announce the sale of The Birch, which is the second pub we have sold to Elzan in recent years. He is a great match for this pub, and we are confident that The Birch will continue to thrive under his ownership.”

The pub was sold at an undisclosed price.
