The Highwayman Inn is a thriving, well-established village pub in North Yorkshire. Known for its friendly, welcoming atmosphere and high-quality food made using local and seasonal produce, the pub and 80-cover restaurant blends traditional country charm with modern comforts, and is well-supported by the local community.

The pub sits in a prominent position in Sherriff Hutton, a village famous for its castle ruins, located around ten miles north of York.

Having owned The Highwayman Inn since 2015, owners Ian and Lisa Rushworth have decided to sell the pub as they wish to retire.

They commented, “After 35 years in the industry and five pubs, our decision to sell has not been an easy one! We will be sad to say goodbye, but it is time for a new chapter. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time at The Highwayman, met some amazing characters over our ten years here, and sincerely thank all our customers, local and from afar, for their support. That support got us through some tough times and helped us become the well-established public house that The Highwayman is today.”

The sale presents an exciting opportunity for a new owner to build on the pub’s established offering, such as maximising use of the large beer garden, hosting events, or extending opening hours.

The sale process is being managed by Alex Rex, Associate Director – Pubs & Restaurants at Christie & Co, who commented, “It is an honour and a privilege to be chosen by the owners to act on their behalf in finding a new owner for the much-loved Highwayman. It is a highly profitable business that offers potential buyers the opportunity to pick up and run with an established business and live in a highly desirable location. We encourage interested parties to get in touch for more information.”

The pub is being marketed with an asking price of £675,000 for the freehold. For more information, visit the property page: https://www.christie.com/5455566/
