Grade II listed country pub in East Sussex sold through Christie & Co

With a 450-year history of serving the local community as a public house, The Star Inn is a popular pub boasting open fireplaces, knotty wood floors and traditional wooden beams throughout the bar and restaurant areas. The pub also has a large beer garden, owners’ accommodation, and a private car park, and sits at the heart of the village of Waldron, with its parish church, village hall, cricket pitch and recreational area.
The Star Inn has been owned by the Lefort family for over a generation and has been sold due to retirement. Landlord Paul Lefort commented: “The Star has been my family’s home and business for over 40 years and we have had some fabulous times and made so many friends. I was very sad to leave, but it was time, and I had a wonderful farewell weekend catching up with friends old and new. My parents ran The Crown in Heathfield during the ‘60s and ‘70s so as a family we have been serving the local community for over 60 years.
“I have handed over the reins to Simon and Nicole and I send them my best wishes for the future. I know they will continue to serve the community as we did.”
The pub has been sold to Simon and Nicole Denny, a former IT consultant and marketing expert, who live locally. They plan to continue with the business as it has been run. Simon said, “It is a pleasure and privilege to inherit a beautiful pub, and well-managed and committed team. Nicole, the children and I are excited to continue the tradition of serving the community for many years.”

The pub freehold was sold off a guide price of £900,000.
