The Aldwark Arms

Currently closed, but decorated in a modern, contemporary style with a nod to its traditional heritage, the pub is immaculately presented and extremely well maintained throughout. The ground floor comprises an extensive trade area which is split into smaller drinking and dining areas, centred around a central bar.

The business occupies a central position in an affluent village setting near York and the location benefits from excellent access to the A1(M) and A19 north-south carriageways and the A59 east-west.

Extending to around 0.65 acres, the site features a large car park and a welcoming trade garden. There is also a substantial owner’s flat situated on the first floor and the property also has planning permission for an extension to the existing pub and the construction of a separate accommodation block.

FRP Advisory instructed Christie & Co to advise the company and sell the assets. Simon Dalingwater of Adair Paxton advised the purchasers.

David Cash, Regional Director – Pubs & Restaurants for Christie & Co, commented, “We had lots of interest in the pub and multiple offers, which is reassuring but not surprising given the quality of the asset and its location.

“This resulted in a best and final offers process and the pub going under offer within weeks of launching to the market, as well as a swift timeline between the deal being agreed and completion.”

The Aldwark Arms was sold at an undisclosed sum, off a freehold asking price of £450,000.
