Well-established village store and post office in Norfolk sold

Open seven days a week and heavily relied upon by the local community, the convenience store stocks and sells a wide range of products, including everyday essentials.

In addition to the store, the business also includes a post office, internal ATM, lottery services and scratch cards, as well as staff areas.

Situated on the main road through Overstrand, near Cromer, the store benefits from high levels of passing traffic, particularly in the summer.

Michael Maher, who has owned the store for 15 years, commented on the sale, “After many rewarding years serving the Overstrand community, I have taken the difficult decision to sell the business. I would like to sincerely thank all our loyal customers for their continued support over the years, as well as our dedicated staff whose hard work and commitment have been central to the success of the store and Post Office.

“I am delighted to be handing the business over to Paran and wish him every success for the future. I am confident that the store and Post Office will continue to play an important role at the heart of the local community under his ownership.”

The new owner, Gunanayagam Girupharan, said, “I would like to sincerely thank Michael for the opportunity to acquire such a well‑established and respected business. He has built the Overstrand Store and Post Office into a vital part of the local community, and I have enormous admiration for the care and commitment he has shown over the years.

“I am very much looking forward to meeting the store’s customers and getting to know the community over the coming weeks. My intention is to build on the strong foundations already in place and continue to enhance the customer experience, while ensuring the store and Post Office remain at the heart of Overstrand for many years to come.”

Funding for the acquisition was arranged by Luke Allen at Christie Finance. He said, “I am very pleased to have assisted Paran with the purchase of Overstrand Store. Insurance for the buyer was also provided by Christie Insurance.

The store sold at an undisclosed sum.
