WM Murray Pharmacy is a busy community pharmacy with dispenses an average of 12,000 items per month. It is located in Dumfries town centre and enjoys a heavy footfall.

The business has been owned by Mr John Currie of Dalhart Pharmacy Limited for the last 14 years and was recently brought to market as a retirement sale. After only four weeks on the market with Christie & Co, a deal was agreed, and the total deal time from offer to sale completion was just four months. The pharmacy has been purchased by a Scottish-based operator which already owns a pharmacy in the town.

WM Murray Pharmacy’s full-time Pharmacist, who helped to elevate the business during 2020 and 2021, increasing average monthly items and turnover, will remain working at the pharmacy with the new owner.

Karl Clezy, Director at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, comments, “The previous owner and the Pharmacist have successfully grown the business before and during the pandemic, resulting in WM Murray Pharmacy being the second busiest pharmacy in Dumfries in terms of dispensing numbers – averaging 12,000 items per month. Interest was generated from mainly existing independents and group operators from across Scotland, attracted by the high dispensing numbers.”

WM Murray Pharmacy was sold off an asking price of £3,750,000.
