Brilliant Businesses: Threemilestone Dental Practice

Threemilestone Dental Practice is an established dental business located in the Cornish village of Threemilestone, near Truro. It occupies a former residential bungalow that was converted into dental use in 1990.

When the business was acquired by Brendan Assibi and his partner, Romana, in 2022, it was a dated, two-surgery practice. In the first 12 months of ownership, after obtaining planning consent, they fully refurbished the original building, adding a third surgery and then extending it to the rear to add two further surgeries, transforming it into the modern, five-surgery practice that it is today.

Since completing the refurbishment and extension works in 2023, turnover has more than doubled due to strong patient demand and the growing reputation of the quality of care and treatments offered. In addition to working in the practice themselves, Brendan and Romana have been successful in recruiting and retaining Associates in what can sometimes be a challenging location due to the far smaller pool of available dentists.

In 2025, I had the pleasure of valuing the practice for Brendan to facilitate his refinance to HSBC Bank. Whilst the independent market for dental sales in Cornwall is challenging - with a far smaller buyer pool and hence lower pricing than other areas of the South West - the size of the practice now would make it of interest to national and larger regional operators and hence attract stronger multiples of profit and turnover than it would achieve otherwise. Brendan and Romana are a great example of what can be achieved in a short space of time with the right spirit and determination, and it was a pleasure being able to help them with their refinance.
