Situated on a large plot on the junction of Prospect Road and Chestnut Road, the Grade II listed property features a restored 18th century timber frame and thatched roof, giving it a wealth of character. Internally, the pub comprises a split-level bar and restaurant area, along with three-bedroom living accommodation located on the first floor. There is also a large beer garden and extensive car parking.

The pub has been closed since June 2019 and has seen significant investment over the past two months, following a complete renovation by the freeholder and new tenant to prepare the business for reopening in August 2021.

The leasehold has been acquired by Craig Fitzpatrick, a local to the pub for over 20 years, who only lives a few doors down, along with his business partner, Neil Williams who is experienced in the pub industry, having managed pubs for a number of big brands, most recently Heineken.

They comment, “We’re delighted to be the new leaseholders of what is an incredible building, we’re really looking forward to reopening the pub and welcoming back the locals, many of which feared this would never be a pub again. It’s been exciting finding some of the original features which we feel have been hidden away for too many years. We can’t wait to open the doors in August.

Richard Wood, Associate Director in Christie & Co’s Hospitality team, who secured the new leasehold, comments, “ I am delighted to have leased out the Thatched Cottage and I have no doubt that the new operators will realise the pub full potential in the coming months and years. We received multiple offers for the pub, which illustrates the continued demand we are seeing for pubs throughout the South of England”
