The well-established store and post office has served the local and wider communities for many years and is located on the main road through the village.
Having managed the shop for the last nine years, owners Tina Philp and Mike King decided that the time is right to pass the reigns over to a new operator. They now wish to spend more time concentrating on their travel business, Not Just Travel.
The store lease has been sold to Sultan Hasan, an experienced operator who already runs convenience stores across the UK. Sultan plans to refurbish the store to be able to offer a wider choice of products for customers, alongside coffee, hot and cold food-to-go.
Tina and Mike commented, “We would like to thank all our customers for their business, conversation and loyalty. It has been a pleasure to serve the local and wider community. After nine years at the helm, we now feel it is the right time for a new operator to take over and continue to look after our loyal customers. We wish Sultan and his family all the very best for the future with the store.”
Sultan commented, “We are over the moon to have completed the purchase of this wonderful convenience store and post office in the centre of Mark village. When we first viewed the property and business, we knew this was a great shop, with a solid client base and the potential to really expand and enhance to overall offering for customers.
“We would like to thank Tina and Mike for creating a great local asset and we look forward to continuing this for our customers. We would also like to thank Matthew McFarlane at Christie & Co for introducing us to the store and assisting in the sale.”
Matthew McFarlane, Business Agent at Christie & Co, added, “I really enjoyed looking after the sale and purchase of this fabulous village asset in Mark. From the moment I first dropped into the store to introduce myself a few years ago, Tina and Mike have been very welcoming. I was able to advise on various aspects of the business, lease and property for well over a year before the final decision to sell was made. Being able to follow the journey over a longer period is always a joy, and enables me to really understand the needs and requirements of all parties. I wish Tina and Mike the very best with their travel business, and Sultan with his new venture at Mark Village Stores.”
The store lease was sold at an undisclosed price.
