Tucked away in the Nottinghamshire countryside, this recently refurbished 19th century coaching inn has been a part of Elston village life since 1840 and presents a fantastic turnkey opportunity for an incoming owner. The pub has been sorely missed by the local community since closing its doors for renovations.

The property comprises a main bar, sports bar, lounge and restaurant trading areas, along with a brand-new commercial kitchen. It also features comfortable three-bedroom owners’ accommodation.

With renovations now complete, the current owner, Richard Berridge has decided to bring the business to the market to focus on his other business in Nottingham – Lakeside, a bar, restaurant and wedding venue which he also acquired through Christie & Co in 2019. Following a multi-million-pound refurbishment, the business is performing incredibly well and requires his full attention.

Richard comments, “It has been a wonderful experience to run The Chequers Inn and be apart of the Elston community, but my other business now demands my full attention, so I felt it was only fair to seek a new owner for the pub, who can give it the attention it deserves. It’s a fantastic little pub and I’m excited to find the right person to take it forward, with the help of Christie & Co.”

Gavin Webb, Senior Business Agent at Christie & Co comments, “The Chequers Inn is a true village pub and the owners have done an incredible job of refurbishing the property to make the most of the characterful space. An experienced operator will be able to take full advantage of this, especially given how busy the UK hospitality sector has been since returning to normal trading conditions in the summer.”

The Chequers Inn is on the market on a freehold basis with a guide price of £675,000 or new free-of-tie lease agreement with an annual rent of £75,000.
