Gerald’s Supermarket in Dawlish sold for the first time since 2004

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the sale of Gerald’s Supermarket in Dawlish, Devon.

Gerald’s Supermarket is a leasehold convenience store with three flats located in the heart of the popular seaside town of Dawlish Warren on the south coast of Devon.

The business was previously owned by Mr Bernard Bretagne who decided to sell to pursue other business interests. It has now been sold to experienced retailers from London who plan to continue trading for the rest of summer before making some strategic changes in the quieter winter months.

Mr Bretagne comments, “I would like to say how impressed I have been with Christie & Co because of the service we received from Jamie Williams we have had a really difficult sale which, after being at Gerald’s for over 18 years, made the whole episode very testing. But that is where Jamie excelled continually, pushing all parties to take the sale forward, and we could not be any happier now we’ve finally sold.”

Jamie Williams, Senior Business Agent at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, comments, “We were able to achieve over ten times the weekly sales which is an indication of the strength of the market for sellers. Leasehold and freehold businesses are being sought after with similar levels of demand, so if you are thinking of selling, now is the time.”

Gerald’s Supermarket was sold for an undisclosed price.
