The team has been involved in all major hotel development schemes across Finland and has undoubtedly established Christie & Co as Finland’s no. 1 hotel property advisor. A wide portfolio of projects have also been completed in the Baltic States and other Scandinavian countries as we aim to achieve the leading market position in the larger markets of Sweden, Denmark and Norway. We opened a new office in Stockholm in the spring 2015 and a Swedish native hotel professional was brought into the team to help achieve this.
The Finnish office is led by Kimmo Virtanen, who joined Christie & Co in January 2005, working in the London office as part of our International Advisory Team. He has been responsible for establishing the initial hotel-consultancy department, and was appointed Associate Director in March 2007. Kimmo has extensive experience of conducting over 300 hotel advisory projects, market and feasibility studies and valuations throughout Europe.
He holds a MSc Diploma in Property Investments from City University in London and an MBA in Hotel Management from Michigan State University (East Lansing, US). He also has a BSc in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management from Haaga Institute Polytechnic, Finland. Besides being a native Finnish speaker, Kimmo is fluent in English and has a working knowledge of Swedish. Before joining Christie & Co, Kimmo worked as Senior Associate at HVS and as Associate Director in several banks, including Royal Bank of Scotland, Bank of Scotland and Bank of Ireland, where he was responsible for lending for several sectors, including hotels.
