This family run nursery opened its doors in 1999 and has built an excellent reputation in its’ local community over the years. Nutkins Nursery has effective operating capacity for 80 children and offers full day care facilities for ages nought to five years old, as well as Out of School Club for children up to 12 years old. Conveniently positioned in a sought-after, thriving part of Salford, the nursery attracts young families from the local area and surrounding towns.

After committing over 20 successful years to the business, the dedicated owner, Zarina Halsall made the difficult decision to sell, feeling the time was right for a new chapter in her life. Zarina comments, “After owning Nutkins for 20 years it was a huge decision to sell. From my initial meeting with Sofia I felt confident that Christie & Co were very professional and could achieve a sale quickly. When the offer came in from Kids Planet I felt they would be able to continue the high quality childcare we have achieved at Nutkins and offer the staff great opportunities for growth and development within a family run company.”

“The process was emotional and challenging at times, however Sofia was available to chat whenever I needed to speak to her about any reservations I had. I know the staff and children will be in safe hands with Kids Planet and I wish them all the very best for the future and the exciting times ahead.”

This latest acquisition takes Kids Planet to 44 settings in the North West and the Midlands, providing care to more than 5,600 children.

Speaking about the latest acquisition, Clare Roberts, CEO at Kids Planet comments, “We’re extremely excited to bring Nutkins Nursery into the group. We are looking forward to working with their teams and providing them with the support they need to continue delivering the very best possible care for children and parents in this area.”

Sofia Beck, Associate Director at Christie & Co handled the sale and comments, “I am particularly pleased to have assisted Zarina with her exit plan, as I know selling the nursery was something she was especially nervous to go through with. I do believe that it’s the right time for Zarina to hand the business over as it’s something she had been considering strongly for a while and with the financial performance being in a strong position it would guarantee her a good sale price.

“Nutkins Nursery is an excellent match for Kids Planet’s growing portfolio, as they already have two other settings in the local area. I wish Zarina all the best for the future – whatever she decides to turn her hand to next – and I’m positive that the nursery will continue its success under the new ownership.”

Helen Wong of Clarke Willmott Solicitors assisted Zarina with the sale and Tom Shorten of Pinsent Masons acted for Kids Planet.
