Whitelodge Care Home in Bristol changes hands for the first time

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced that Whitelodge Care Home in Fishponds, Bristol, has been sold for the first time since 1990. The finance for the sale was secured through Christie Finance.

Mr Rad and Mrs Fiona Seehootoorah, and Mrs Maria and Mr Mark Hewlett.

Established over 30 years ago, Whitelodge Care Home is a profitable residential care home registered for 21 service users, and comprises 21 bedrooms, 18 of which have en suite facilities.

Whitelodge Care Home is highly regarded in its local area and has an enviable reputation for delivering excellent quality care. It maintains a very high occupancy rate and is run under management with a loyal staffing team.

The care home is located in Fishponds, a vibrant suburb of Bristol, approximately five miles to the north east of the city centre. It sits on an attractive tree-lined road and is just a short walk from the local high-street and amenities.

The home has been family-owned and run by Quality Care Homes Ltd since 1990 and was brought to market to allow the owners to pursue retirement. This is the second home Christie & Co has sold for the family. Mrs Maria Hewlett comments, “After over 30 years of owning Whitelodge Care Home, we’re pleased to say it’s now sold to Mr and Mrs Seehootoorah who, I’m sure, will continue the business’s long and successful operations.

“This is the second care home I have sold through Christie & Co, the first one was Whitehaven Care Home five years ago. Their approach and support throughout the sale has been exceptional and they have always been professional and honest.”

Whitelodge Care Home has been sold to husband and wife team, Mr Rad and Mrs Fiona Seehootoorah, who have a wealth of experience and knowledge in the sector.

Mr Seehootoorah, who is a highly regarded and experienced care home manager, comments, “We are absolutely delighted to complete on Whitelodge Care Home, and can’t wait to get to know the residents and their relatives, and to work closely with the staff to continue the high quality of care currently provided. We have a hands-on approach and look forward to taking the business and care home from strength to strength. We’d like to thank Oliver at Christie & Co and Gary at Christie Finance for their support in helping us secure the business.”

Oliver McCarthy, Senior Agent (Care) at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, comments, “We have been working with Quality Care Homes Ltd for a number of years now – this is the second home they’ve sold through Christie & Co – and it’s great to have completed on another sale for them.

“The owners approached us in September 2019 after deciding to pursue retirement from the sector after a long and successful career and, shortly after, we began marketing the business. Care home sales in Bristol are quite rare, so it’s not surprising that the home generated a lot of interest and sold relatively quickly.

“The care market is still very strong, and demand for residential and nursing homes in and around Bristol outstrip supply.”

The sale was funded through Christie Finance. Gary Boyce, Director at Christie Finance, comments, “We were delighted to have worked with Rad and Fiona in purchasing Whitelodge Care Home. Despite what is currently a turbulent funding market, we were able to focus on their excellent skill sets, experience and extensive business plans to secure the necessary bank support. We wish them the very best in taking Whitelodge forward and have full confidence in them providing a safe environment and high-quality service for their residents.”

Whitelodge Care Home was sold at an undisclosed price.
