The Houston Dental Group acquired by Alliance Dental Care in deal

Houston Dental Group, one of the leading independent dental groups in the UK, has been sold through specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, to regional operator, Alliance Dental Care.

Established in 1990 as a single site practice, the business has grown to be one of the largest providers of dentistry in the UK and provides NHS and private patients with a range of quality treatments. The business has been led by Drs Ceri and David Houston, who, with the assistance of a highly skilled clinical and support team, have developed an unrivalled reputation in North Somerset and the wider South West region.

In 2018, the group opened a conference and training centre to provide training events, as well as to host conferences, lectures and advanced professional development for the wider dental community.

The purchaser, Alliance Dental Care, owns and operates a small, high quality group of practices from its base in Hertfordshire. With practices also in North Devon and Dorset, the Houston Group was an ideal geographical fit and has enabled the group to expand its presence in the South West of England.

After 34 years in the profession, Ceri and David Houston decided to sell the group to plan their retirement. Commenting on the sale, they said, “We would like to publicly thank everyone with whom we have had contact during our 29 years in North Somerset for their support. During our almost three decade long journey the practices have seen extensive growth and numerous changes. We are extremely grateful to all those patients and professional colleagues who have supported us.”

On behalf of Alliance, its founder and CEO, Dr Anshul Pangotra, comments, “We are delighted and proud to be the new owners of the Houston Group. The ethos of the business and its patient led focus was highly attractive to us and complements our existing practices perfectly. The excellent clinical and support teams will continue to offer the very highest standards of dental care to both NHS and private patients and it will very much be ‘business as usual’ with no interruption to the patient experience.

“Our interaction with the staff and dentists has been very positive and there is excitement in the air for the future. It is the staff and dentists who made the group what it is now and who will be key to further growth in patient care.”

Oliver Snowden, Director at Christie & Co, who acted on behalf of the Houstons, comments, “It was a pleasure brokering the sale of this prestigious dental business, one of the UK’s largest and most respected independent groups. Its acquisition by Alliance Dental Care demonstrates the group’s real focus on quality and the location of the business is also highly complementary to its existing portfolio.”
